mobile-porn-lgSUNNYVALE, Calif. – A report cites Juniper Research as its source for an estimate that global revenues for adult services on mobile platforms will grow from $2.2 billion last year to $4.9 billion by 2013.

The paper, by ResearchAndMarkets.com, is tltled Monetising Adult Content on the Mobile. An abstract put out by the company covers the many types of content available on mobile devices that incorporate adult-themed material, such as SMS-based services, jokes, dating and chatting, streaming video services, video chatting, video clips, pictures, moantomes and games.

Hurdles that may impede future growth include regulatory constraints, localization of content and other services, better understanding of the consumer, a glut of free content and a lack of standardized pricing.

As far as growth by region, Western Europe is expected to generate most of the revenue through 2013, even though its overall market share will fall from 42 percent to 32 percent because of growth in the United States, Afris and the MIddle East.
