Liberate StudiosNORTH HILLS, Calif. – Pacific Sun Entertainment has signed Liberate Studios to a distribution deal that will make the Cape Town, South Africa-based gay porn studio’s content available in the U.S. Liberate believes it is the only gay adult studio operating in South Africa.

“Basically, we are single-handedly creating the porn industry [in South Africa] and giving it a [South African] touch, which we think is great,” Liberate co-founder Ross Winters said. “Liberate Studios [NSFW] has Kurt Rogers and a couple of other international models [like] Jed Wilcox, who is South African too, and Nic James, who is French. But I think what we are is South African at the end of the day.”

Winters, an advertising, film and music-video director, co-founded Liberate in 2009 along with Rogers, who for several years worked as a model for U.K. gay adult studios including Men at Play and UK Naked Men. Winters said the two men saw South Africa, with its beautiful locations, great weather and amazing men, as the perfect place to shoot high-end, high-quality hardcore films.

“The faces are fresh, the locations are different, and for our upcoming films we are going to be showing more of that,” Winters said. “We intend to offer different kinds of guys. Our first film had the more muscle-hunk look with short hair, and our next film has younger guys [who are] more twinky. So, in the long term we aim to cater to pretty much all tastes, from bears to twinks.

“Our goal is to make porn that is shot beautifully using proper filmmaking techniques, multiple [high-definition] cameras, professional makeup, cameras, lighting, etc., even down to the catering department,” he added. “While this might be business as usual in the U.S. or Europe, it doesn’t exist in [South Africa].

“Our goals are to put South Africa on the porn map. The talent and locations and technical film industry are awesome. Our models are as different as they are South African.”

The studio’s first release, Rogered!, is expected to hit the streets in July.
